Mongolian BBQ!

Looks very good. What exactly is Mongolian BBQ though?

You go through a buffet line of raw ingredients, meats, veggies, starches, etc. You usually purchase a bowl of varying size, and you can fill it with as much stuff as will fit. The cook stir-fries it as you watch, and then you eat. Repeat if desired 😉

There's a place in Westwood about a half mile down from where I live. I might have to check it out tomorrow.

are you talking about Mongols? fellow bruin? when i go there, i pile it up soooooooo high.

there is a place in omaha (bellevue specifically) that has a place called Khan's Mongolian BBQ. its better than that damn huhot. kinda expensive, but you get a ridiculous amount of food.

The place in Westwood (Mongol King) is pretty good. It's not all you can eat, though, so you can't just throw stuff into a bowl and go back a bunch of times. You have to really get your stacking groove on and build a mountain.

they've been jacking up the price there since i was a undergrad at UCLA. it's almost 10 bux for a combo meal. you need to get back at those fockers by piling it high. pack the meat in the bowl first and keep pressing it down. then put on those noodles about 5 inches high at least.

Sounds like a challenge I'm ready to take on.

Where do you live? Where do you get your Mongolian BBq from?

I live on campus at UCI, but I have friends at LA that I visit on a semi-regular basis and we occasionally stop by Mongol King. The one in the picture is from Genghis Khan, a place in Fountain Valley. There used to be a BD's at Tustin Marketplace (which was AMAZING) but it closed down for reasons unknown to me. Pity, it was apparently the only one on the West Coast.

I'm not too big a fan of the noodles, but otherwise, the packing strategy is essentially what you stated - maximize space and absolute density.
