No No No No Dont. There have been bogus MO's from overseas. This is a known scam. You receive MO, ship item, deposit MO, then bank notifies you MO is fraudulent. Do not accept MO's from overseas I dont even accept domestic MO's.

Stick to PayPal.

B.

Accept the MO deposit it and then ship it out....easy. He's sending you an MO to protect himself in case you rip him off he has somewhere to turn to...if hes unwilling to wait for it to clear then its a scam.

Paypal is far riskier when dealing with international transactions as you have zero protection. Buyer can just say they never got anything and you're out the money, regardless of tracking information.

Money orders can be safe, just use common sense. Make sure the money order is in US dollars and is drafted from a US bank, else you will experience fees from your bank.

Protect yourself.

Take the Money Order to the bank. Tell them your concerns. If OK. Deposit it. Wait for it to clear 100%. Then ship.

Otherwise, no go on the deal.

MOs from the post office are fine, id accept them over paypal anyday. Just cash them at the post office before shipping, if its a fake you'll know right away.

yep, as long as you cash a USPS mo theres no way to be defrauded. They will tell you on the spot if its fake.

The part that says "my base" indicates he may be an American GI stationed in England. If so he should have access to USPS money orders.

http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams.html

There are scams out there, but they are good as immitating real life so just be sure. Usually if you can get a phone number and talk with them you can better decide. Basically, your LCD must be pretty far below market to warrent him shipping it overseas (espeically considering the exchange rate) so either it's a scam or you should be able to sell you LCD in the US for more than he's willing to pay ... geez, sounds fishy at least.

Check out the sample emails on the Craigslist warning above for a better idea of what to look for.

The U.S. bases in the U.K. have USPS offices.

So, if it is a USPS money order you are good.

Is is mailing address an APO, AE address?

Don't do it. What do you think there are no LCD monitors for sale in the UK? Even if it isn't a scam, it's just not worth the hassle...

The exchange rate is great for people in the UK paying dollars at the moment, its almost 2dollars to the pound. Most items cost the same pounds for dollars in the UK (im from the UK and live in the US now and was back home in Feb) so it really could be saving him some cash. He will have to pay import duty on it though (17.5% plus another %, i cant recall what).

i agree with the exchange rates at the moment, the dollar is very weak against the pound. great for my friends who come over from the uk, not so good when i wanna go back over there.

if i were you, i would have him send cash, he can send it thru the post office in the uk as a document, and it can be fully tracked from the post office to your door, and it's insured. i've used this before to have share certificates, documents & cash sent from my mom in the uk

this guy is pulling all the classic scam tactics on you. I've seen this so many times. Just stop now before you get scammed. sooner or later, he's gonna tell you that he has a 'client' in the states who will wire you $10,000 for you to hold in your account- he'll do anything to get your account number.
