so I'm selling something online and I want money order for it. when I receive the money order, what do I do with it? can I just go to my bank and deposit the amount to my account? any extra charges involved? I'm really refraining from using Paypal since they take off chunks of my income (I'm getting $435, but paypal takes off about $40 for that amount!)

any input is appreciated! thanks!

you can cash any reputable money order at a grocery store or bank.. Usually teh grocery stores will charge you a fee.

But, if you deposit in your bank account, and the money order is found to be fraudulant, they'll just withdraw that amount from your account. So, make sure the money order isn't fraudulant.

If it is a USPS MO, just go to a post office and have them verify it before cashing it right there.

Banks (mine anyway) will actually charge ME a fee if the Money Order is fraudulent and they have to withdraw that amount from my account.

No, paypal takes about $12.90 out of that amount.

oh oops sorry about that!

I have nothing against money orders, just thought that I'd correct that. At most they'll take 2.9% plus 30 cents. For $435 that would be exactly $12.92, and I'd have no problem justifying that as the cost of the convenience of using paypal.
