Bah! I would go for solid stade HDDs or atleast ULTRA-SCSI-320 in RAID 0. Also I would get a dual processor rig, of course.

Why, what they used in Tom's Hardware's 5 GHZ project, of course. Liquid Nitrogen all the way.

4x512mb ddr500
x800XT
2x15k 36gb Hds
Watercooled of course with double loops one for each processor
Case: Bigass tower with enough room for all the water cooling stuff

ok hows that for a system that costs way too much

Hmmm....This could be fun....

2 Amd Opteron's model 248 2.2Ghz, $689x2
TYAN "Thunder K8W(S2885ANRF)" $436
Corsair XMS TwinX1024RE-3200LL $349x4
Enlight Entry-Level File Server Cabinet $326
Antec TrueControl 550 $100

Adaptec PCI-X Ulrea320 card $208
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800XT $450 (for now)
ViewSonic VP201s 20.1" LCD $969x2
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro $206
APC 700VA UPS $263x4

Total = $8,788

Edit, I would have gone with a 4 or 8 way Opteron system but I didnt feel like looking around for a price.

Oh yes, money is no object, I'll 4 of the above meaning the total is really $35,152.

Xbox and BenqQ 8700 projector on a 110" Silverstar screen. Add cheap 5.1 receiver and speakers. Big sofa to sit on. If Xbox isn't your thing then connect a cheap PC and play CounterStrike or BF1942. Nothing like shooting at lifesize enemies.

This setup will blow away any 22" CRT 1600x1200 gaming.

You don't need to use svideo. You can hook up directly using VGA cables. These projectors accept all sort of inputs. I'm using 110" wall screen in my finished basement and games and movies look incredible.
