I know he didn't invent it but he made it more well known. When this incident originally occurred, everyone was referring to the comedy skit to explain the slur.

Considering the context, his history and the fact that nobody calls somebody else a monday in casual conversation, I think it's a safe assumption he was being racist.

That said, I can't quite comprehend just how fucking stupid of a racial slur "Monday" is. It's so not racist for so many of us that I think you can dismiss it being racist at all (other than a few people in Massachusetts, it seems).

I had a few co workers that migrated to Cali from Boston who used it in a racial context back in the days. They did it because well, calling black co workers the N word would result in them getting fired. It was born out of the necessity to be racist without the nasty side effects like job loss and potentially getting your ass whooped after work.

The guy meatloaf is directed to happens to be black. The saying "I hate meatloaf" means meatloaf is a racial slur.

Just so we are all clear. EVERY racial minority's DEFINING characteristic is their race. If you refer to them in any way other than their name, you are referring to their defining characteristic. In MANY cases their name is also racial, and if you use their name incorrectly, you are also being racist. Like saying okay LADASHA in a way that emphasizes the racial background of that name.
