We also offer tech support on our parts and system orders, which I think in and of itself is a huge selling point. So essentially you could pick up a pre-tested and setup combo, flashed with the latest bios, plus have tech support that you can call if you have any problems. (For no additional fee) Of course, I'm biased, but thought that needed to be added.

Being an Intel system builder for years I am just amazed of how the price gap between DIY and pre-made systems (like Dell) has not only narrowed but swung way in favor of the name brands.

I am another looking to start using Monarch instead of New Egg or Mwave. But do not see much in the way of sales incentives. Not sure if you can answer this but figure I would give it a try. Do you think we will be seeing price drops soon for DIY? This has to be the worst time ever for DIY as far as things like no free shipping deal and no real sales incentives this season.

we still hold one key advantage. Its built completely to our likely with the parts we choose

The biggest issue facing us, as well as our competitors, is simply the supply is not out there. And as always supply/demand affects pricing. I honestly don't know how the big box guys are making any profit on the systems themselves, it all has to be in their added cost services.

Of course, Monarch charging $325 for a motherboard doesn't hurt......seems like plenty of profit built into that sort of deal.

Edit: I should mention here that I bought most of the parts in my sig from Monarch at pretty decent prices but this sort of price gouging really turns me off. I think I'll take my dollars elsewhere next time around....

I'm just curious how they were able to get it cheaper than anyone else. There has to be some large OEM that's dumping these to Monarch on the grey market.

We get all of our OEM cpus directly from AMD themselves. We're one of their launch partners so that allows us to offer them quickly and inexpensively.

EDIT : ACK! $20 tax :Q back to good old egg... that was dumb :p

yep there is the problem with monarch for me...though i can drive there to pick it up, the sales tax kills most large purchases for me. I have bought a few things there out of convienence and they seemed like a real solid place to do business.

The board is actually in line with what we had to pay for the item. For the rarity of the item, we were charged a premium, and then we had our shipment sent overnight to add on top of the premium we were already charged. With our next batch, you'll see the pricing even out some, and once the board is readily available you'll see the pricing level out. (Much like you're seeing on the 6800 Ultra AGP cards that were going in the mid to high 5's going for under 500 now)

Well, I must say that Monarch certainly does take an interest in the opinion of it's customers. They went to considerable length to get me on the phone today just so they could explain their reason for the high price on this board. I'm actually quite impressed by the effort. It's getting pretty rare these days to find companies who care the least about what their customers say or think about them. I definitely have to give them props in that department and my opinion of Monarch is much higher because of it.

No I don't work for them, I'm just saying that I posted in this thread saying that I was unhappy with Monarch over prices, someone from there saw it and PM'd me a # to call, and during today they called me back 3 times to make sure I was happy with the deal they worked out for me. From my experience buying PC parts online, that kind of attention is unheard of.

Man I couldn't be happier with them, I wasn't so sure about them yesterday, but today Monarch Computers rocked my world and come monday I'll be looking at a shiny new NF4 board!
