Monarch Computer Systems... pretty reliable?

I've always felt safe with Newegg, ZZFly (Googlegear) and MWave, but wanted to save $$ on this first SATA system I'm building. Monarch had the OCZ ModStream 520W I wanted for $99 free shipping, I read comments at ResellerRatings.com and Pricegrabber.com before ordering.

Ordered around Noon Friday, got confirmation emails immediately, had tracking number by 7:15PM that night. Received item shipped from Decatur, GA to Austin, TX on Tuesday.

My guess is that quick of shipping is unusual, but I'm happy with my first Monarch experience.

Monarch beats newegg IMO...so does Mwave.

You live in CA monarch is the only place you should order from unless you just like paying taxes.

I can't agree more. I am in Canada, and have orderd from Monarch and they did any OUTSTANDING order/shipping job. Very impressed with Monarch!

Must of been lucky. I placed my order was placed yesterday morning but the status shows there are still picking it in the warehouse. But Joe gracioulsy upgraded my shipping THANKS JOE !

never had any problems ordering online with them.
I think alot of CA people order from this site to avoid the tax?

Bought my SD there. Ordered at Noon on Thursday, order didn't ship 'til Friday, but they bumped my shipping up to 2 day from 3 day w/o any extra charge. The signature being required by FedEx was mildly annoying, they usually show up between 11 and 1 while I'm at work, but I work less than 5 miles from the local FedEx hub so I got my SD in 2 business days anyway. Quite satisfied overall.

I ordered an evga 6800 from them on monday. no email of item being shipped on wednesday so i told them that if they dont ship it by thursday, i want the order cancel. I got the email replying that the item will ship on that day . THey ship it on thursday evening second day fedex. overall i think the shipping are not as fast as newegg or zipzoomfly but the service is very good

Purchased winnie 3000 from them when it was on sale.

got it within time and it worked fine and all..

only weird thing was that winnie was used... I could tell from the marks on the cpu. seemed like a system pull 😛...

anyway it worked fine and I was able to O/C to 2.4ghz which is pretty good for 0505 chip.

Ill buy from them again if they have one of those crazy cpu deals again.

MustangSVT got me thinking...

Has anyone purchased one of their "pre-tested combos"? I was wondering if they use new sealed parts for the build.

It seams they would have to have a stock bin of parts that didn't work in previous combos that they try in new combos. That's not much of an issue, I'd just be concerned about customer returns being used. Since they have to break the seal, you'd never know.

Also, if you've used them, do they test the memory to the spd value or the its rated values?

thanks

I have. They include the original package (ie. motherboard box + all accessories and the retail ram packaging, etc.) with the shipment. Unless they have lots of spare retail boxes, I'd say its safe to assume they use new sealed parts.

Bios setting in memory was set to auto, so it was whatever the motherboard detected it as. However, they didn't put the memory in the right slots for proper dual channel configuration 🙂

Normally, I wouldn't get a combo from them, but it was for a family member and I got two free games from the combo. I haven't had any problems with Monarch.

Thanks Frown66.

I was intending to order from NewEgg, but I've seen many posts from MonarchJoe here. That adds to my comfort level. Also, the two games they are offering are games I'm likely to play. The Value VX is about $10 more than NewEgg and the PowerColor x800xl is way higher so I think I'll just split my order.

One other question. Do the Retail HSF come with thermal compound or do they have thermal tape? If tape, what does Monarch provide as a replacement? Or do they not use the stock HSF in the test?

-thanks,

I got the oem cpu + AMD authorized HSF (it won't be a qualifiying combo if you don't order it with some type of HSF). I didn't remove the HSF from the motherboard when I got it, so I'm not sure what was used. Temps were ok (it is a Winnie at stock speeds). They charge you like $14 for adding thermal paste, so I didn't pick that option.

I think retail HSF comes with its own thermal tape.

My friend bought a barebones hornet package (extended sff case) witha gigabyte s754 mobo few months ago. Top notch service. The mobo was bad, so he rma'd it and got a new mobo back the next day. Great service, which I think is definitely one of the best along with newegg.

Monarch has probably the best service of any online vendor I've dealt with. I have had very good experiences in the past with them and so have some of my friends. For example, a friend of mine ordered an OEM 3000+ venice a couple of weeks ago from them. A few days later he decided he was going to return the retail winchester he'd bought so he called Monarch to see if he could buy a hs/f. The man he talked to sent him the amd stock hs/f free of charge.
That, in my opinion, is going above and beyond the call of duty. I am not an employee of monarch, nor do I know anyone who works there. Just a college student.

Hey Frown how long did it take for you to receive your combo ? I ordered mine on Monday and the order status says the order is still in the warehouse for picking. I was hoping I would have seen this stuff by the end of the week. GA isnt that far from NJ
