Mom Faces Jail after Son, 4, Died Jaywalking with Her

Retarded. She jaywalked, an accident happened. Her serving jail/prison time doesn't do any good for anybody, much less her other children; and certainly won't compare to the punishment of losing her child due to her poor judgement anyway.

System failed as usual. The guy who hit the kid had two prior Hit and Run convictions? Why isn't the fucker dead?

I think I'm going to have to agree with this

A couple of things:
From the article, I don't believe she was tried by a jury of her peers. Nobody used transit, let alone tried it with a few kids and groceries in tow.
3 tenths of a mile walk, one way, to the nearest crosswalk. That is over a half mile round trip to obey the law. The developer who put in the apartment complex should have been forced by code to put in a crosswalk. It would have been absorbed just like traffic lights at new stores, etc.
I don't think society is being served by jailing her. She is responsible and will never forget it or him. She was not otherwise impaired, drinking, on drugs.

I dont think the mom should go to jail. It was an accident, I do not think there was any intent on her part to harm the child.

we should lock everyone up. Only ones not locked up should be the rich and the law makers.

We are already enslaved through our tax system.

Or she could get off at the bus stop directly on the other side of the street and not have to cross at all...but let's not make this too simple...

Lets put a twist on it. Suppose she was babysitting a neighbor's kid due to an emergency the neighbor had. Suppose she doesn't care about the kid. Can she just let any 3 year old under her control get killed in the street. If she didn't care about the kid, then she has no guilt, no punishment at all? Can she keep doing this and let 5, 10, 50, 100 kids die in the street? At what point do we put in a punishment?

All I'm saying is the argument of "she'll feel bad so we shouldn't punish" is just hogwash. Mulitple people in this thread made that argument, but it is really a stupid argument if you think about it. If I hate kids, can I babysit them, kill them through negligence, and be let go free because I should be sad?

That said, she should be punished for jaywalking and child endangerment. But not vehicular homicide. They are going too far in the attempt to punish her.

So let me guess...you bleeding hearts all think these women shouldn't be charged for the deaths of their children either...

Stories at the time said the youngest ones were strapped into strollers in the house...
No electricity in the apartment, so they used candles for light...left the kids alone in the apartment with candles burning so they could charge their cell phones in the apartment laundry room. Gone for at least 30 minutes.

After all, they lost their babies...why punish them any more?

🙄

I'll roll eyes with ya if you think this is somehow comparable.........

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

One of them did not logically stay with the kids, or get a neighbor, or any number of other commons sense things?

How is it not comparable? It was an accident, the parents must feel terrible, etc etc etc.
