Mom can't double click

I remember reading of a keyboard short cut to do away with double clicking the mouse and just opening the file/application. Mom is elderly and fingers aren't too nimble anymore. TIA

for windows 98..........not sure what system you have

my computer..........

at the tab at the top is folder options click on that

then go down to custom setting.......click on that button


its there to make it single click

You can set single click instead of double click in Windows. It will be enought to point mouse and click once.
Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->General->"Single....".
As for keyboard shortcut, well selecting and pressing Enter runs app/opens file in explorer if it's win explorer you are talking about...

There are many accessibility options available. Go to Add\Remove Programs|Windows Setup tab in Control Panel to add/see all the Accessibility options.

I teach basic computing to seniors, and many have trouble double-clicking. They seem very comfortable, however, learning the keyboard commands. To replace double clicking or single clicking, simply teach her to highlight/select and hit ENTER. Does exactly the same thing.

There are amny other keyboard commands that are very useful. We provide each student with a printed list of them and have them tape it up next to their computer.

In general mice can be very difficult for seniors.
