Mold vs. Mould

I did some googling and got mixed results.

"The cheese is moldy" or "The cheese is mouldy"?

"Plastic injection molding" or "Plastic injection moulding"?

Is this a simple British vs. American spelling discrepancy? 😕

mold is the sutff that grows on cheese, a mould is what you form something in? or is that backwards?

hell i have no idea.

Nope. The truth is you're an attempt at cloning me (since I'm the perfect specimen) that went horribly, horribly wrong. 😛

Being English (although living in NYC), I'd like to say that yes, it is a simple English v. American discrepancy. We write mouldy

I used to work in a laboratory where we did analysis of molds and I have never seen it spelled mould. Then again I didn't play around with stuff very much.

Here is what I think...

Mold - Gross stuff on bread, cheese... etc.
Mould - A mould... like what they make stuff out of...

Both are correct, according to Merriam-Webster. However, since it states that "mould" is a variant of "mold", just stick with "mold".
