MOHH:AA detecting my PIV as a PIII, and performance is bad

i just got my hands on Medal of Honor, and in the quake III type splash screen that comes up when the game is initializing, i noticed that it says something like "pentium III detected". jediknight2, wolfenstein, and quakeIII all say "pentium IV detected". my performance in those games is great, but my performance in medal of honor is really bad. i have to turn the texture to medium and the color to 16 bit at 10x7, while all the other games run great at 10x7 with everything turned up. i have the latest patch. should i just reinstall and see if that fixes it?

thanks,

First of all, the CPU detection process really does nothing in terms of performance so if the game is slow there's a problem somewhere else.

Do you have the latest 1.11 patch for the game?
Do you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your system?
What is your video card and do you have the latest drivers for it?
How fast is your CPU and is it a Willamette or a Northwood?

MOHAA runs just fine on my 2.2 GHz Northwood + GF3 Ti500 at 1152 x 864 x 32 with maximum detail levels, patched or unpatched.

i have all the latest drivers and inf's, and i have the 1.11 patch. as my sig says, its a 2.48 gHz northwood. i have a ti200@240/530 with the 28.32 dets. i'm rather at a loss as to why it doesn't run well. i think i will reinstall and see if that helps.

Did you run the autoconfig first? It adjusts other stuff no available in the config screen. If you look in the config.csv though you can see it's preconfigured settings are limited to 1.1Ghz. The big performance killer is Shadows but it seems you have other problems.

The first thing you should try is running all of your hardware at stock speeds.
The second thing you should try is reducing everything in the game to the minimum detail levels to see if you get a substantial performance improvement.
