Anyone using a 9700 Pro with spearhead having performance problems? My framerates are horrible, at 1024x768, default game settings (High, but no the highest) I'm only getting like 19 fps -35 fps, it's like a slide show in spots..

I run the game at 1600 x 1200 with 16x performance anisoptropic and it's like butter. However MOHAA is a very CPU limited game and looking at your specs I'd say that your CPU is quite underpowered for this game.

Additionally, make sure that you have disabled vsync, truform and FSAA in the driver control panel.

I have vsync disabled, no AA or anisoptropic. I just tried lowering the details to medium, and setting the res to 800x600, but got no change in frame rates 🙁 My geforce 2 ran faster with the same setup.. so I'm not sure, going to try a uninstall, and reinstall the game to see if that makes a difference. I also formatted and did a clean install yesterday before installing the card, so there should be no driver conflicts.

Do you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system? You need to reinstall the chipset drivers after an OS reinstall.

You might also like to run dxdiag and make sure your card passes all of the tests. In particular, make sure AGP texturing is working.

Yes, I have the latest bios and installed the latest agp drivers (I think that's all I needed to install for my motherboard). Just reinstalled MOH by itself and got no improvement, still getting 10-30 fps during the opening mission, no matter what res or details I use.

I can play BF1942 at 1600x1200, highest details, and get 50-100 fps, the same thing with a couple other games as well, so I'm not sure what's up with MOH. Even if it's CPU dependent, I would expect better than 10-30 frames :\

I'm not sure if it will make a difference or not, but I noticed that both sound card and the 9700 Pro are using irq 11. I will try swapping the sound card into another slot tomorrow to see if that makes a difference.

Anyway, thanks for your help. it's very much appreciated.

If you're running Windows 2000/XP then IRQ sharing doesn't really mean much at all. It's quite normal and doesn't impact performance in any way.

Also I noticed that you are not running the Catalyst 3.2s, which are the latest drivers from ATi.

I tried removing my sound card (didnt help any), and also installed the cat 3.2 drivers, the drivers helped a bit, but the frame rates were still pretty low, dropping to 20-30 fps. I think I'm going to return the card, and instead order a regular 9700 Atlantis, with a Athlon 2400+ (since I only have $300-$350 to spend). Thanks again for the help though.

Reformat. I play the game on my p3-866 with a GF3 TI200 with all the options set to high and at 1024x768 and I get probably about 40-50 fps.
