meh, i installed glacier bay faucet in the bathroom. screw holding handle down keeps getting lose making it wiggly. probably because it screws into plastic. too much plastic in faucets! the pfister or whatever kitchen faucet i put in also has way too much plastic inside. both work, just not perfectly which is rather annoying. the new ceramic disc cartridges instead of rubber washers are easy to install and work pretty well though.

Update: Well, searched around online for a suitable replacement and then went down to Home Depot Expo in Encinitas a couple weeks ago and looked at a top of the line Grohe faucet and ended up buying this online. A $500 kitchen faucet. My wife thinks I'm nuts for spending this much money on a faucet but after getting it and installing it I think it looks fantastic. We plan on replacing our oven and fridge with stainless steel models soon anyway so this will go nicely with those appliances. We already replaced the dishwasher with a stainless steel model about a year ago.

The install was easy and this thing is built like a tank. Heavy and very sturdy construction. I expect it to last for many many years and look good as well.

If you're happy with it, that's cool. I personally don't like buying top of the line anything. Usually you can get a quality product without breaking the bank, but it takes a little luck and looking at the display fixtures to see which ones feel cheap. Most faucets should last roughly 15 years, but many are using plastics instead of metal....and those that use metal are using low grade metal that easily corrodes over time. I would much rather have a new cheap faucet every 5-10 years for $100 than pay extra for one that I'm going to have to replace in 10-15 years anyways.

We've had Grohe in the 2 (out of 3) apartments that we've lived in, and I've got to say, they are nice pieces.

Moen, though, I've never even heard of.

I have a Pfister Kitchen faucet, and a couple of years ago when we put it on hot, no water would come out... WTF it was a 300 buck faucet and only 2 years old. so i emailed Pfister and told them the problem. they emailed me back and said they were overnighting the valve out to me. well in preparation i tore the faucet apart and while looking at it i noticed something stuck in the valve. after much prying and poking i was able to get it out.

it was a piece of plastic about the size of a 1/2 dollar. The only way i can think of that plastic getting stuck in the hot water side of the valve is taht a week earlier i had to replace my water heater. that plastic must have been in the tank and just got pushed through the hot water lines.

anyway the part came and i still have it, just incase the valve ever does break.

Exactly my thoughts. A good looking and functional faucet can be had for ~$100. That'll easilly last 5 years if not 10. At $500 for that faucet, I could have had 5 others in that time. Five other faucets will last far, far longer than your $500 faucet. Plus, I can keep them in style long after yours is dated.

But if you are happy with it and if you can afford it, then good for you.

I'm certain it was the valve on the Moen that broke but after replacing this faucet twice in the last 6 years I had enough and bought this one. Hell, $200 every 3 years and that would cover the cost of this faucet in 7.5 years. Also, the Moen had a plastic wand which turned yellow over time (the old faucet was white).

The Grohe is a high grade stainless steel. Every bit of it is stainless steel too so it should last a long time and look good too.

eh, looks alright. You're a little late on the SS appliances. I'd go with the custom panels that mount to the front of the fridge and dishwasher; classier.

We have white appliances now. I think SS will still look good in our kitchen.

Whatever you think, but SS is dated now. You'll just have a look that everyone else has.
