Damn kitchen faucet is acting up. I turn it on and when you push the lever down it doesn't shut off. I have to push down on the rear of the faucet to turn it off. This is the second one I've had in 6 years and it looks like it will be going back to Home Depot for a replacement. The first one started leaking out of the center where the water supply comes up into the bottom of the faucet head.

Isn't Moen supposed to be good? Oh well, last time I replaced it they just gave me a brand new one for free.

This is a $200 faucet and not some $20 builder special either.

Update: Well, searched around online for a suitable replacement and then went down to Home Depot Expo in Encinitas a couple weeks ago and looked at a top of the line Grohe faucet and ended up buying this online. A $500 kitchen faucet. My wife thinks I'm nuts for spending this much money on a faucet but after getting it and installing it I think it looks fantastic. We plan on replacing our oven and fridge with stainless steel models soon anyway so this will go nicely with those appliances. We already replaced the dishwasher with a stainless steel model about a year ago.

The install was easy and this thing is built like a tank. Heavy and very sturdy construction. I expect it to last for many many years and look good as well.

When they say, "Buy it for life," they mean keep buying it throughout your life.

When I replaced my kitchen faucet, some people said stay away from Moen.. others said stay away from 'x' brand, but Moen's were ok. I bought a Delta a couple years ago and its been OK so far.

Here is a similar model except ours is white.

BTW-The finish on the pull out part has yellowed a bit in the past couple years too. The first one did the same thing. This faucet does not get direct sunlight either.

try taking it apart and looking at it, most likely it is a part you can replace.

Well, since the finish has yellowed on the pull out handle I'd like it replaced. If they don't replace it I'm going to buy something else...not Moen.

They did the last time.
They probly get credit with the vendors on certain products. Like retail electronics stores & networking products.

I had a Moen bathroom sink faucet that the handles got real loose on and I could not figure out how to fix. It was only about 9 months old and I went back to Home Depot where I purchased it, and they told me that all Moen products carry a lifetime warranty. I went on Moen's website and found the warranty section that had me call a 800 number. They were great and took a guess at which part was needed to fix. It did not fix the problem, so I called back. The rep I talked to pulled up my account and when I told her it did nothing to fix problem, she sent me all new parts from the base up and sent it 2nd day air - all for Free. That did fix it, and IMO the way they handled it was perfect. I will never purchase any other brand! Never asked for proof of purchase or anything.

When my wife and I bought this house 6 years ago we upgraded the cheap builders special (which was a Moen) with the faucet we are now replacing for the second time. 2 times in 6 years does not equal reliable IMO.

Moen=Highly overrated.

Hahahahahaha, you bought from home Depot or Lowe's didn't you?

EDIT: The reason is that they used sub standard parts for sotres liek that. Why do you think the prices are so low .... The replace some of the parts that are nomrally metal with plastic. Want the best, start by supporting your local plumbing supply.

That is interesting. If there is one advice I can give, it is to always buy expensive plumbing equipment. The people who built this house used the cheapest crap ever and my god did everything spring a leak every 4 months. Anyway, I now have mostly Moen but I am sure there are other ones that are just as good as long as they are not the cheap line. I can't say I have ever had a leak in any quality faucets.

The stuff you'll find at "big box" stores generally is of lower quality even if it is from the same brand. That's how they offer such low prices.

Our house had all Moen fixtures but they were mostly cheap ones (the bathroom faucets aren't bad). I've been replacing the valves and water supply lines for all the faucets/toilets bit by bit because they are really low quality. I'm putting in 1/4 turn chrome valves and braided supply lines. It gets kind of expensive though, we have 3 full bathrooms and two of them have double sinks...

QFT, I have a Moen from HD and every year or so I have to call them for more replacement parts. Since it has a lifetime warranty and I know how to take it apart fast by now I don't plan on changing it.

You really should look into a rebuild kit. They're cheap and super easy to install.

They do have warranties on them. Just take it back and get a new one if it's still covered.
