Modular PSU cable question...

QueBert

Lifer
Will the Modular cables that come with the Ultra X-Connect work with other Modular PSU's? I'm looking to get a PSU for a second PC, and was interested in the Antec Neo, and have a bunch of the Ultra cables laying around from my main PSU. All the other Modular PSU's I've seen some with really ghetto, home made looking cables compaired to the Ultra.

Probably not. Modular cables are proprietary - unless you use the mod-mod kit from SVC.com et al.

JIC you missed out on all the discussions, Ultras aren't particularty good PSUs. One reviewer called the X-Con (don't pardon the pun) "crap that glows".

that's BS if you ask me, I've seen 3 bad reviews of the Ultra yeah. But I've seen around 20 who loved it. With like 8 of them rating it one of the best PSU's they've ever used. Since my first home built PC, I've had maybe 20 different psu's. This is as good as my Enermax, better then most others...

people who hate on the Ultra are pretty much the same people who call anything ThermalTake makes crap.

OCZ modstream's a better PSU...

Better how? It won't make your system run any faster, or any better. Does it deliver more power? yeah, but nobody needs that much power.

on the downside the modstream is fugly, the modular cables are especially tacky looking.

I'M NOT trying to say the OCZ is a bad PSU, but it's not the end all people try to act like it is.

i would get modstream 450w you dont even look at the psu who cares if its ugly, i would rather have sumthing ugly that a pos psu like you have that u bought for looks cause if u would of looked at reviews u would of never bought it because its terrible.

Nice of you to assume I didn't do any research before I bought my PSU. Infact though, I did, and I didn't buy it because of the looks. I bought it because I read an overwhealming number of great reviews on it when I googled for them. Terrible? I'm sure you can find at least one review crapping on anything. I have no desire to go into detail about how you're wrong here, as it's painfully obvious you've never touched the PSU. Are you also a member of the "TT sUx0rs!?!" bandwagon?

The modular cable fad (if you can call it that) sorry, but a lot people don't buy them because of how the less clutter can more efffectively cool your system. Looks play a big part on it. And the Modstream looks like something an amature did.
