I know the hot deals forum should have only relevant posts in it (ie hot deals). but you guys are post locking crazy. for example, in the "freewwweb dead" post (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=201210), that post affects many people. granted, it may not be a hot deal but it does have a lot of info in it and many were interested. please be a little more lax when a semi-off topic post affects a lot of ppl.

ok, I'm done stating my case and you can lock it now but please give this post a consideration.

That thread did not belong in this forum. It was locked for a short time while I moved it to the General Hardware forum. I also deleted the poster's question about removing banners from such free services because that is fraudulant, so that part of his discussion is not allowed on any of our forums.

The thread is now open in the General Hardware forum.

YOUR thread is off topic, so it is now locked. In the future, if you have such questions, write us about them.

Agreed, Mods, you need to understand that this audience does not check through every single forum Anand has got on this little shindig. General info is pretty crucial information, and a highly doubt an occassional post or two regarding such topics in the hot deals forum will overload your servers. Considering the quality of content that IS allowed here, like "FREE TOOTHBRUSH AT NOTHINGUSEFUL.COM!!!" I really think helpful information is warranted.

What's wrong with having a little conversation? Are you serious? If you let people start talking whenever they want, pretty soon they might start saying things you don't like. And then where would our forums be?

And what of the dear senior members (who for unexplained reasons are forced to read every word posted here)? You can't really expect them to read things not relevant to their important little lives, can you? It would be anarchy!

I don't understand it either. I'm usually on the Mods side of things, but I think it is ridiculous to lock posts every 2 seconds. Information is a deal in its own right and people should know if things are happening especially if it affects forum members.

I'm not talking about regular conversations, but about posts such as the freewwweb one - they are informative posts that others should be able to read and discuss about. and by "read" I mean that if mods locked it, two day later, it would be 5 pages back...and few juniors would read it and there are going to be a lot of lost ppl asking many questions about why this isn't working or why this isn't free anymore, etc.
