Now I'm really curious to know why her Internet was yanked. Could you elaborate?

Your daughter is a year away from becoming an adult, and yet you won't let her play the Sims, AND you ganked her Internet connection?

You are setting yourself up for an early grandchild when she moves out, my friend.

Hello!

17 year old girl

no violence, no sexuality, or no occult

Basically we want a clean, fluffy, animated animal type game.

She can get the Violence, sexuality, and occult in public school 😉

She sounds pretty sheltered. Not that that is a bad thing, but it could hurt her later in life.

I suggest Heroes of Might and Magic 2, 3, or 4 (if you can still find 2 or 3, they rock).

Silent Storm, but it's a little too-intensive. Being the sexist pig that I am (card-carrying member), I hesitate recommending such a demanding game to a n00b 17 year old . . ..

Actually, in all earnest, I'd recommend Sid Meier's Pirates!. It fits all the requirements that you're looking for, it seems like - it's not too violent, it's really fun, and is comprised entirely of minigames - read the reviews in the link, but I seriously don't think you could do any better than this one . . ..

And come on, she's 17, you honestly think she's that naive to violence & sexuality? She's almost an adult for christ sake, just get the Sims already.

Just a heads up.. trying to keep the world away from your 17 year old daughter won't work.

😛

Let's just say she was feeding her 'dark side' online. NOT IN MY HOUSE YOU DONT!

She's on a strict diet of wholesome entertainment these days, hence the G Raged computer game.

If you want something with no "end" then you'll need a MMORPG like Sims, WoW, etc.

pics?

Edit: If no Sims, then how about the newest SimCity game?

If you're thinking the a "fluffy" game will keep her from doing drugs and sleeping with strangers you're gravely mistaken.
Perhaps she's already been through 4 year of this.

Was she talking to... a guy?! Who she wasn't related to!??! OMG!!!!!

He's just asking for advice with a given prerequisite; obviously we don't know the whole story, so let's stop with the preemptive judgements and just try to help him out, k?

Shhhh. Don't wake him from his self-delusion.

I tried, I really did.

The way he's going about this doesen't sit well with me. Granted, I'm not the parent and we don't know whats really going on...

There is a reason so many of us are saying "WTF?".

The guy is delusional if he thinks surrounding his daughter with bunnies and flowers is going to do anything but make her more rebelious.

I completely understand yanking her internet connection. Not in your house, as you say.

But you need to re-think the way you're going about this. You aren't going to change her as a person. Infact, you may make her embrace it all the more.

Now she can't wait to move out on her own, have her own internet connection, and be free to do whatever the fsck she wants.

It's only a year away. Are you ready? Apparently not.

Quoted for truth 🙂

Maybe an RTS game? They have tons of replay value. Plus if you guys have more than one computer you could play together and do that bonding thing. Something like Warcraft III.

I'm sorry, but I have to do the same. People like the OP really don't sit well with me either. I'd put money on it that he's a Bible thumper.

my $00.02

Ahh, ATOT, where every 20-year-old thinks he knows how to parent.

Seriously, this guy didn't ask for criticism of his parenting style. If you disagree with it, you might as well just be quiet because I seriously doubt he's going to change his style based on your opinion.

another vote for KOTOR 1 or 2

Did she get into occult stuff on the internet? Maybe then KOTOR is not good because she'll become Sith!

Geez folks. I'm not asking you to parent my daughter, or even advice about anything other than a fun, entertaining, G rated game for her to play. You don't know the whole story.

She's Bipolar, a compulsive liar, and most likely schizophrenic. She's been inpatient at a mental institution twice since she was twelve, and we can't do any family activities without her wigging out. She also can't be left at home alone or she will break into our rooms, and still our jewlery, and prescriptions. she's threatened her older and younger sisters with knives, and tells her teachers at school that my wife does NOT have Multiple Sclerosis and is just faking it for attention. It's unlikely she will ever lead a good life outside in the 'real world' but we Love her, and try to do our best to make her happy, as difficult as that is. That does not include giving her free access to all the $hit on the internet, or every gory zombie movie, or game.

Now with that said, I'm going to delete the OP, and hopefully get this locked. I appreciate the good suggestions, and I'll read up on the pirate game. I apologize if I sound a little touchy about this, but I am.
