I've got Sirius Satellite Radio in my Audi and absolutely love it.😀

I recommend it over XM every chance I get but refuse to argue about either with someone saying it is inferior to AM or FM. :Q

Well, when I first purchased it Sirius was the only satellite radio that offered true commercial free listening. However, XM may have recently changed their lineup to include no commercials as well.

Secondly, I simply like the station choices better. 😉

Third, Sirius offers a lifetime membership that XM doesn't. I paid $400 for a lifetime subscription so that I don't have to make monthly payments which will break even with the monthly payments after about 3 years. Although, considering I bought a 2004 which I plan to drive for the next 10 years/100,000+ miles I think Sirius is a much wiser choice.

Not to mention Sirius has a much better signal due to their 3 satellites which sit much higher in the sky compared to XM's 2 satellites. XM doesn't come in well at all unless you are near a big city while Sirius comes in crystal clear nearly anywhere except in tunnels or around many extremely tall skyscrapers. :wine:

I agree with every points except two:

XM has always have some stations that are free of commercials since inception.

XM, even though with 2 satellites, but their signals are better than Sirius, because of different technologies (better repeaters, I guess)

I have both XM and Sirius (for about 2 years now), and have more problems with Sirius than XM, any where I go.

Very SIMPLE.

Clear Channel owns a lot of XM. XM will be ruined by the time Clear Channel is done with them.

I thought the same thing.

That is until I bought my TL with built-in XM. Now I simply cannot live without it. Have two other receivers now, boombox and have it hooked up to the 2-channel stereo.

Actually its the opposite. Since Sirius's three satellites move throughout the day they can cover a much larger area (less obstructions), hence they need less ground repeaters than XM does.

It doesn't matter how many repeaters they use, the bottom line is, XM delivers. Did I mention that I have both and have used them every where I go?

Everything I've ever read said that Clear Channel owns very little of XM. Here for example.

In fact, XM has recently dropped several of the CC stations that it used to simulcast.

I dont' really listen to the Heavy Metals, but I think they're about equal.

One thing is for sure, there are a lot more uncensored programs on Sirius

Do either of the vendors have multiple receiver options, I've not be interested since it would appear I'd need to subscribe for each car and house I have. So, can I yet have multiple receivers (like on a satellite TV account)?

Yes, you'll have to pay an extra $6.00 a month for every extra receiver, I think it's up to four.

with xm you can. but each receiver is another 8 bucks/mo I believe.

I just bought some stock in Sirius, I think satellite radio has a definate future. My wife says "who is going to pay for that when you can get it for free on AM/FM," my reply is people pay for cable and satellite for their TV, why not radio?

I bought a bunch a while ago as well. It's at $3.90/share right now and it's been going up like 4% daily these past few days. I am doing VERY well and will be buying a Sirius kit for my home and car in May.

With Sirius you can get 1 unit (I'd recommend the Audiovox one) and then get the home and car kits. There is a rebate now actually, so you get the extra kit for free: Link

So you have your car kit and plug the receiver into that. When you get home, you take it out of you car and attach it to your home kit which is attached to your stereo. For the car, you can do an RCA connection or an FM transmission to your receiver. But if you are going satellite, it's almost pointless to get an FM transmitter. If your car stereo doesn't have RCA inputs on it, then you'd be better off getting a new stereo. New speakers would be nice as well for better sound.

My DelFi SkyFi (in my car) has better than FM quality, and I love the programming. Will never not have satellite radio as long as it's available.

Clear Channel never did own a lot of XM. And recently Clear Channel almost completely devested in XM. They used to program around 5 channels. (3 music and and 2 talk channels) They now program one channel on XM. Currently GM/Delphi is the biggest investor in XM and always has been.

The majority of XM's music programming is done in house, with some channels carrying programs from the WorldSpace satellite radio network.

I don't know why everybody's flaming me, I just posted exactly MY experience. the concensus seems to be that XM isn't anything like what I described, so I don't know why my experience was so much different. no flames are needed though

"very very very limited programming" and
"very very very censored programming. it may not always be "censored" in the common usage of the word, but truthfully, it is VERY censored. "

How long did you listened to XM before you made the above comments? Give XM or Sirius a try
Can you find all of this on AM and FM? check out the link.

No reason to lock. you said your peice and everyone else said theirs. Doesn't seem like a flaming thread to me.

I personally have XM in my car and have had it since it started. I travel alot and enjoy the programming and the ability to not loose channels when I leave the city.
