Huge difference.

It's not very complicated, sir, this &quot;Hot Deals&quot; forum is for people to find hot deals, and help other people find hot deals.

It is NOT for people to promote items that they are personally selling.
If you cannot grasp that concept then you have much bigger problems than the justified wrath of 'Anandtechers'.

It is just a page all by itself mind you, If I was to goto geocities and stick it up there, what in the world would be the difference??????????

That link at the top of this thread is not to a store that sells the software at a good price, it is too your personal page. You are directly benefiting from the sale of the software, regardless of whether or not you make a profit on the sale. You are promoting your own site that sells the software. You are a dealer. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. End of discussion.

If you had found someone else's store that accepts PayPal as a form of payment, that would be alright. But since you are promoting your own webpage, that is against the rules here (going to the 'no spam' rule).

If you don't have a reseller license (not in business for yourself), and you just found a good deal on a few software boxes, then perhaps you would be better off offering your software in the For Sale / For Trade forum (dealers are not allowed there either).

I am confused as to how I am promoting my website, but if I place them elsewhere, there will be no reason for members to say I am self promoting.

The only self promotion I can see is in my sign, but I see alot of Members with their homepages in their sign as well, so I am sure this is within the rules/reg.
 
You are promoting your website because you're here telling someone to go visit it. That's what promotion means. If someone else were to come here and include a link to your site, they would be promoting your site, not you. In that case, the thread would likely drop quickly because of the cool to warm price on NIS.

If you are the one getting the money on the sale of the items then it's not allowed here. That is what the For Sale / For Trade forum is for. Hot Deals is not a classifieds section for selling things that you picked up cheap. That is what For Sale / For Trade is for.

In the mean time, since this has turned out to no longer be the discussion of a hot deal, I say that this is moved to Off Topic or Forum Issues.

so 1 page can be considered a website? I am being told that I am promoting my website, but that 1 page NOT MY WEBSITE. So I still do not understand how I am promoting my website.

Like I said, If I was to stick this page on any other web server, then my own, that would not be considered self promotion? I am so confused on this issue.

That is considered spam? I consider spam something that is sent to you that you consider useless and did not ask for. I guess I need to look at spam and the definition a little closer.

I have already done that and have caught some flack there from one particular member that thinks he is posting to threads in the HOT DEALS forum. His posts even say HOT DEALS forum in them. And that was a &quot;Senior Member&quot;. Nice example he is setting to all the newbies joining daily.

If the answer is &quot;Yes&quot;, then you canNOT post it here, doesn't even matter if it's the cheapest you can find in this universe. And it doesn't matter what server you list it on, NOT even the Anandtech's server. I know you are smarter than this. May be I can turn back the time again, and you will edit this post one more time.

One last post before I ask for the lock.

Am I catching all this flack because they recently changed the rules about this issue, and most of you giving me the flack either got in trouble, got banned, or something else for doing the same thing, and you are getting even with all the others trying to sell stuff?

Just curious because that is pretty much what it looks like to me, revenge of some sort.

I wouldn't doubt that there is some increased attention because of the recent attention in the FS/FT forum but here, in the Hot Deals forum, the policies have been the same. That you've been so &quot;energetic&quot; in trying to work things out has given you most of the attention.
