indeed, something isn't right; you . the 9500pro has 8 pipelines, and the 9500 non pro has 4.

Yep, 4 pipelines, not 2...


9700 Pro: 8x1, 256bit memory bus
9700: same thing, slower clocked
9500 Pro: 8x1, 128bit memory bus
9500: 4x1, 128 bit memory


Also, 9700, 9500 Pro and 9500 are all clocked the same I think.
