Too late. My decision is made, and I no longer have to worry about my mothers happiness. I did buy the nice monitor, for myself. I'll send her my old iiyama 17" LCD, the one I currently use on my office computer.
It works great and she'll consider it a big upgrade from her 15" CRT.
