Been on blood pressure medication for 4 months and i think my medication is causing erection issues. Any other males on here having the same issues ?

medication for high or low blood pressure?

high blood pressure medication comes in varying types
Beta Blockers lowers pulse rate and thus blood pressure drops and the heart pumps less and therefore you could haveerection issues with the reduced blood flow and all.

most others relax blood vessles and thus blood pressure drops. amn erection is caused by blood pressure in the penis and thus if you have lowered blood pressure, it may affect your erection.

Yeah, I asked because beta blockers are notorious for giving men erectile dysfunction.

It's known that diuretics (or water pills, like hydrochlorothiazide) and beta-blockers (like Atenolol) can cause erection problems. These are also the first drugs that a doctor is likely to prescribe if you are not able to lower your blood pressure through diet and exercise.

If you take a beta blocker you may also want to ask your doctor if it might cause erectile dysfunction. You might be better off on a medication less likely to cause a problem.

Erection-Friendly High Blood Pressure Drugs

Some families of high blood pressure drugs rarely cause erectile dysfunction as a side effect:

* ACE inhibitors
* Alpha-blockers
* Calcium channel blockers
* ARBs

Alpha blockers relax blood vessels by lowering the nerve impulses to the blood vessels(blood vessels help pump blood as much as the heart does)

Ace inhibitors prevent angiotensin II from forming and thus relaxes the blood vessels to widen.

CCB prevents calicum from entering the muscle cells of heart and thus causes the blood pressure to go down from narrowing blood vessels.

ARBs are jsut like Ace inhibitors, targeting angiotensin II , but it stops the receptors from working instead of stoping the chemical from forming.

I'd say ARB or Alpha Blockers are yuor best bet.
