Mods, can we have a thread about the AccessMicro deal to find out what's going on with it??

Sorry mods if this is not allowed (please don't ban me, peeeeese), but I was part of the AccessMicro deal that orginated late the other night, and the thread was then locked yesterday. This is the first deal I've partook in dealing with the Hot Deals forum, and I'm wondering if I will have any chance of getting the hard drive. Because if it looks to be that I'm not getting it, my uncle is going to sell me his Palm VIIx for a $100 bucks, almost brand new.

If everybody just states updates, can it stay? If not, I'm sorry. Thanks.

This thread can stay as long
as it does not get out of hand

Assuming this won't get locked here's my order status. Ordered 2 drives on 01-11-2001 at 04:12:31pst. Selected UPS Next day air. Received order confirmation immediately after placing order. Received a second "UPDATE" email 8.5 hours later indicating order is being processed. As of 2 minutes ago order status is pending with no tracking number nor ship date.

IMHO, the mods are a little too quick to lock threads around here. They locked the original one ostensibly because they were sold out. Well, so what? That doesn't mean people don't still want to discuss it. Locking threads when they are still active only inspires people to create new ones to continue the discussion (like you just did :D )

---

AccessMicro's original offer stated that they had a limited quantity of this drive. We locked the thread because because the item was sold out and was gone from their web page, the discussion of the aftermath was fairly thourough, and most of the new posts were nothing more than whiney late comers bashing the company.

You are a bit new to our forums to have such a well formed opinion about our overall operation. We do the best we can, and we hope you enjoy yourself on AnandTech. If you are disappointed, there are plenty of other forums somewhere in www.*.*

Thanks Mod. My order status is about the same. Ordered mine on 01-11, approximately 08:07 AM eastern, actually got two order confirmation emails, then another later in the day about it was processing. I chose second day air shipping. If anyone gets an email confirming it shipped, let us know. Thanks.

I called and they said they had only (1). Thats it. I along with many others are SOL. Call their 800 number if you want to cancel your order.

I just wonder why that item did not say "1 in stock" like many other items in the clearance section.

Could someone give me the 800 number to cancel my order?? I'm currently at work and can't get to that site because of this stupid proxy :). I just want to call and cancel it before things get out of hand.

AccessMicro booked 1475 orders for these IBM 75GXP 30GB yesterday, and only one hard drive was avilable. They sent me an email telling me details.

even if they could get them, which they can't because their ingram micro supplier is -1000 back ordered on the drive, they prolly wouldn't honor the prices.

I read in another thread that these are returned hard drives.
I almost brought one myself but my damn computer just had to die on me on the last minute.

Go somewhereelse? Gee wiz.....

Anyways, Online companies deserve all they get if they can't carry out what they advertise. They advertise, they should be able to sell it other then a mistake. I goto MAcy's and if they are out of stock on an item they advertise, I get a raincheck! If they can't hang with that, they should get out of business. Pure and simple.

I just got off the phone with a CSR and he told me what everyone else has been saying...he said they only had 17 of those drives for sale(I thought the number strange too) and that night they had almost 1500 of those drives ordered. He also said that the drives were indeed open boxed returned drives...so I'm glad I didn't get one.

He said my order was already cancelled and I kindly told him it would be nice if their webpage stated as such or a friendly email telling me the order has been cancelled would have been nice so I didn't have to spend 1/2 hour on the phone waiting to talk to him.

Oh well, maybe the next hot HD deal will work out.

Not going to bash on the company...

But unlike other pricing errors, this was not. They meant to sell the drive for this price. Only having 1 in stock, well that's fine - but make sure your inventory system works.

I can't believe some e-tailers still don't have working inventory systems... and you wonder why they are all going out of business!

They are just drives which are returned right? I don't see anything wrong in buying them unless they have bad sectors or something.

Well I doubt any of us are going to get our drives, but maybe we'll get a decent offer from them for a product of similliar value, or at cost type situation. Hopefully they'll let us know soon. Although I don't like the fact that so many of these were ordered and they kept showing it in stock, we need to maintain our sanity here.

When are they going to cancel our orders? Are they too busy finding out who is going to get a drive who not?

Status @12.30pm CST jan 12:
according to CSR, they had about 10 drives and more than 1500 orders. So I wonder who the lucky 10 are.
They are the ones who probably posted the deal.

For those of you who want to b*tch about companies with screwy inventory systems or policies, go to resellerratings or bizrate, at least that's where I'm going...

They are not going to cancel your order. They just won't ship you anything and your cc won't be charged, but they won't officially cancel your order. That's my experience with AccessMicro.

Edsel, you read what the Mod wrote at the top of this thread; it is because of similar comments that the first thread got locked. Please edit your message. Thanks ;)
