I have been listening to this new rock station in my town to see what popular, new rock is like now. It is so bad, I have yet to hear a song I like. What new rock are you guys liking?

What do you expect for free? All of the great musicians are working in other content.

Well I am assuming these bands/songs they keep playing are what is big/popular in rock now and if so then ugh

They constantly play these two lame songs that go...

Sometimmesssss it makes me wanna pull my freakin head off...

Come a little closer to me.....

That is all I got from them, well the first one has some line about Kanye West but man they are horrible

edit: oh and another were the lead yells most of the time then goes to this line about "I'm wasting here can anyone wash it all away.."

All we have is an alt rock station. Muse is good. I like Silversun Pickups but they aren't very popular. There was that one song by Big Data that I liked, but haven't heard anything else by them. The Fighters of Foo are okay even if it all sounds the same.

The classic rock station isnt any better, all they play is lame classic rock era that is late 70's-80's. I much prefer 60's-early 70's

I have not listened to a radio at home for a decade or more. In the car I mostly listen to Audio books (Free DL from my county library) and WAMU that plays modern Bluegrass which can be fun and of course NPR.

I miss WHFS

Radio has always been kind of crappy. They typically go for the most popular of a small number of songs. I like to listen to metal and except for an hour at 11pm on one station (not sure if they do it anymore), you'll never hear it on the radio.

My local (oldies) rock station introduced me to blue oyster cult. I know I'm bad for not knowing them beforehand.

I'm burnin' and the reaper are now in my top 20.

it's a sign you're turning into an old geezer

next you'll be shaking your fist at kids and telling them to get off your lawn

Can't listen to it. Most songs make me picture a group of guys in skinny jeans holding hands in a circle, crying while they sing.

Then I switch to bluetooth or hit mute.

Indie rock is about the only place you can find good new rock music anymore. Don't even bother with broadcast radio.

I've got no problem with "angry" rock...but most of the stuff today is basically a nasally whine that just grates on me after one or two songs.

It's like GNR covering a Taylor Swift song. Too bubble gummy emo'ish.

Haven't listened to radio in years, with the occasional exception of the classic rock station. OP, use your preferred music service, spotify, google music, etc. There is decent/good new rock out there, but don't look for it on radio.

Its not just the music ... good music is a pretty rare thing regardless of its generation. It is true however that these days the big recording companies have more of a hand then ever in creating "groups" whose talent consists mainly of looking good.

The bigger issue's for me are synchronized commercials, corporate-dictated playlists and moronic announcers.

I can't stand commercial radio, i mainly listen to Triple J or Double J out of Australia, it's commercial free and uncensored and in the case of Triple J i usually hear lots of new music hardly anything old (over 1 year old).

I wouldn't even bother. Most of it isn't even 100% music. There's so much technology nowadays that it's almost ruining this industry.

Spotify at work, Spotify at the gym, Spotify in my car, Spotify on the train, Spotify on the plane. Best $10/month I'll ever spend.
