Or you like playing with this stuff. I replaced my dead pool pump. Was going to keep using the same pool timer but noticed it just switched one pole of the two pole which is not a good thing. A new pool controller of questionable quality was more expensive then me getting a smart socket + Eaton definite purpose 2 pole contactor. So I have HA, which is already running as a VM, control the smart socket and the socket turns the contactor on and off. I schedule the pool pump to run in the middle of the night when electricity is cheapest. It's all pointless gee whiz bullshit. If you told me I could download a libre app that magically made all my dumb stuff smart, I'd play with it for a couple of days, think "neat", then get bored and go back to the way I've always done stuff, because the smart shit actually increases my work by having to twiddle knobs, and uses more energy than what I do now. I can't think of a single case where "smart" stuff would make my life better, in even a trivial sense.

IKEA has officially announced its range of Matter-compatible smart home products. The Swedish furniture store is releasing 21 new items under the tentpoles of lighting, sensors and control.

The short answer is that it appears you don't (unless you actually get out and follow it around). How do you judge distance from an object or tell if there is something in front of it you'd rather not mow (like your cat)?
I don't know about you, but I enjoy mowing down people from the comfort of my chair.Tech for the sake of tech.
Nano Banana Pro / Gemini 3 Pro Image is crazy.
It turned this blueprint into a realistic 3D image.
It did not just create the image, it first read the blueprint properly and then created the final output with every small detail.

That's a handy sales tool. Seems like the thing should also be able to do a complete material takeoff as well.
I upload my floor plan and it design the whole house for me, and even generate real images for each room based on the dimension..

Gemini 3.0 can convert a 2D blueprint into a 3D-rendered visualization - at 4K resolution.Just paste your 2D plan and add the prompt (in ALT).Absolutely insane for architects or interior design workflows.

That's possibly the strangest floor plan I've ever seen. Way better suited to a strip mall.
But figuring out if it did it right is like one of those "find the differences in the images" games. The lower-left view has an extra dormer.
It has to be presented as "it will look pretty much like this", with a three paragraph disclaimer. Every set of architectural plans I've ever seen has had a disclaimer about dimensions, variation's, and the possibility that it's not even close to reality. But figuring out if it did it right is like one of those "find the differences in the images" games. Lived through "looks good on paper" plans. HVAC was usually the biggest culprit * if i remember correctly. It has to be presented as "it will look pretty much like this", with a three paragraph disclaimer. I was never handed a set of plans that accounted for HVAC. There would be a little box showing where the register would go, and that location rarely had anything to do with reality. I had two or three that it was impossible to run duct work in and it was obvious from the first glance at the plans. Thank God for minisplits.Lived through "looks good on paper" plans.
