If you can't make a point without resulting to personal attacks, you have something to worry about.
If you can conduct yourself as an adult and make your arguments without attacks, I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about.

Just follow the Guidelines.

Olds knows. If you have a concern and can express it without attacking, we'd be glad to hear it.

I'm sure I've heard worse in P&N ;)

Do they have to be mentioned by name? If so, just send a PM to DerekWilson with your concerns.

no, they don't have to be named, its more of a general type thing. it just seems liek any time that anyone mentions anything about how the mods (in general) are doing something, that person gets shutdown pretty quickly.

If it's important enought to you to post it pubically instead of PMing it, be willing to take a hit for your beliefs. Otherwise, you're just a whiner.

why should we "take a hit" for voicing a concern about the forum or how it's being run? this the type of thing i'm talking about.

What did the Mods have to do with this process of electing individual forum Moderators?

This was Derek's idea, he set the rules and conditions. All the existing Mods did was just post and edit the threads. Trying to put the blame on the Moderators for anything that you may find fault with this event is misguided.

thats not what i'm saying at all. my comments are geared to how a mod should act. its very much on topic for this thread.

Hmm I think you'd be best PM'ing Derek with you complaints or ideas then as this isn't the thread for that. This thread is about electing the Moderators for each individual non Social Forum.

You don't even belong on these forums IMHO. Its bad enough they let you back, but your embolden "new" persona is exactly what I expected. Your idiotic "Rollo for Mod" campaign trying to show up the mods/forums the last go around was bad enough, but to show up in these Personal forum issues threads and act all hurt because you got vetoed for Mod ( for OBVIOUS REASONS....thank god) and then to top it off by being a condescending judgemental jerk about BFG10K shows what a class act you really are. Are you seriously campaigning in here?

Save the Mod.101 nonsense, nobody asked:confused: As long as AT allows you to stink up the video forum, its off limits for me as well.

You might want to read further down from the post you quoted, where nRollo apologized to BFG10K. This is totally off topic anyway.

Yep, he could ban me too, but to do either he'd have to show how I violated the board's TOS or risk losing his mod rights.
I think only senior mods have that power which is a good idea IMO.

As for deleting posts, I'm generally opposed to the concept of deleting posts because it removes an audit trail of what has happened.

At worst I would generally only edit someone's post, but only if they posted something shockingly offensive or an inappropriate link.

I stand corrected, you might make a good mod after all BFG. My apologies.

BFG10K has the balls to put Rollo squarely in his place, and even defend himself in a mod selection "process" thread. How is that on-topic?, and Why does that even have to happen without comment? Its just personally grating to me. I've said what 'm going to say. BFG10K obviously has the support of the video forum users, and rightly so. He sure as hell doesn't need the Rollo seal of approval from a forum member point of view.

In a forum that I'm a Moderator of, we didn't have members voting about who's going to be made a mod, the decision was kept between the moderator team and administrators.

There, Admins normally look at a potential mod candidate by checking the forum user logs about what that member has done over the past few months or years, because if you haven't been a good member back then, you're likely not to be made a mod. Another way is to question the other mods about who they feel has potential, or choose a mod based on the relationship a member has established between admin and member, I think it's better this way because the user logs may not accurately reflect the user.

AfaiK, what you describe is what ATF has always done in the past ... including the last crops of moderators this last Summer.

This is something completely new. Something to "connect" more with the membership. i don't think all future mods will be chosen in this manner.

If you're not going to be a user of the video forum anyways, why bother yapping?

Well lupi, its because I'm a long time user of the video forum that I do bother yapping. Perhaps AT will come to their senses at some point? I have well over 10,000 posts in the 7+ years I've been here, quite a large percentage of those in the video forum actually helping other users.

If you think everyone is going to forgive and forget, sorry, it aint happening for me. Rollo is spewing his condescending crap in this thread about the "process" of selecting a mod, so I'll comment if I feel like it.

I had a long post all typed up, but it just boils down to; I comment because I truely care about the video forum, it is where I've spent the vast majority of my time here at AT over the years. Rollo's return both suprises me and at the same time bothers me on a level that prevents me from enjoying personally participating...simple as that. I made an exception concerning the matter of moderation for the video forum. I myself picked 3 excellent nominees (BFG10K included) and also commented on why I picked who I picked.

I firmly believe Rollo's days are numbered here at AT based on what I've seen so far, so I'll probably be back posting in video in short order..till then, Adios Muchachos
