Moderation in Garage forum needs improvement.

I have two major complaints about the moderation in the garage/automotive sub forum.

1. The foul language censorship is too strict and annoying.
Seriously, we're all adults in this sub forum. We're driving and working on cars. If you can't handle a few bad words, then you shouldn't be driving a car. I've been told, numerous times, to edit out even the mildest of profanity. When it's not directed at someone, what does it matter? This is just plain annoying. Show me one mechanic that doesn't spit out at least the occasional expletive. The moderators need to relax, seriously. I can get away with more explicit language in the computing forums, for crying out loud.

2. Alkemyst is a troll and the moderators let it slide.
The user "alkemyst" is clearly trolling. He carefully words his many, many posts in such a way that he's intentionally trying to irritate other members, yet he can put on an act of innocence to get away with it. I don't know what the moderators are thinking, but it's just plain obvious what alkemyst is doing. It's ruining the sub-forum.

So while alkemyst being a jerk, the honest users are getting nagged about dropping an innocent f-bomb.

I hope to see some feedback on my comments from a forum official. Thanks for reading.

They're going to move this off to Moderator Discussions shortly, chastise you for posting in PFI, and nobody will ever hear of it again. But before that happens, I'll make a comment.

1) I've only gotten dinged once for using the F-word, I don't really agree with it, but it's not an issue to me. Are you getting that for other milder words, in many threads, from multiple moderators, something like that?

2) I've been reporting him every time he trolls the forum, posts another M3 thread, or makes a personal attack. It hasn't accomplished anything.

Ah, I see. I usually use the forum sidebar, which doesn't show the moderator discussions section. Either way, it's locked/private, so it's a moot point. It seems to me like this is the appropriate forum?

It's restricted to the original poster of a thread in it, and all the moderators. That way nobody else can see or post in it; helpful sometimes, but far from always. In this case, I agree with you, this deserves comments from other users of ATG, but it's not how the mods are going to see it.
