I built my system (with help from these boards) 2 years ago, but it's starting to show it's age. I can't afford a new system now, so I'm considering a small upgrade. My system's in my sig., nothing overclocked. I think this board will accept an Athlon XP3000+ Barton with a BIOS upgrade, but I think I'd do better to try to go for as much video card as I can. I'm looking at a GeForce 6800 128MB AGP. I'm primarily intersted in gaming. Does this sound like I'm on the right track?

Also, if I go with the video card, is it worth trying to overclock my 2200? I've done some overclocking in the past.

Thanks

Yeah, a new video card is probably a good upgrade. The Athlon XPs are great overclockers, so that may help a little. I don't know much about that board or the RAM, but you should be able to get a few extra MHz....

The 6800 would be a nice jump up -- look at the Doom3 article under the CPU tab at top of page to get a vague idea of how CPU-limited the card will be.

Upgrading the CPU by itself (instead of video) probably won't help much, since your 2200+ is a good match for the ti4200.

If you get the video card now, you can use it until you save up the $300-400 needed to move to A64. Getting an XP 3000+ doesn't seem wise since it's much slower than even an A64 2800+.
