So last night I get a call from mom, completely out of the blue. I was seriously considering asking them for a temporary loan because well, right now my wife and I are pretty much broke due to the deposit on our house and may not have enough to close after finding out how much we actually get from the condo sale. Anywho, she starts talking and asks if I remember the money that she gave me last year from my grandparents' estate (she split her inheritance with me and my sister, taking 50% and giving both of us about 25%).
Well, apparently last years' money wasnt the full of it and there's more to come. She's like "Do you want the money now, or do you want to wait till later this year?" Completely shocked, I was like "You know were were going to ask you for a loan to possibly cover the additional closing expenses and movers... I'd LOVE it right now." "She's like, ok then tomorrow I'll goto the bank and have them cut a check... Your sister doesnt need it becase she doesnt have any huge expenses coming and I thought that you might like it now."
Lets just say, I'll be buying all 6 of the games that I've been salivating about this year when they come out... Doom 3, Half Life 2, Halo 2, Sims 2, NHL2k5, and Fable, as my 'play cash' from this check, plus I dont have to worry about the movers sitting in their van for 2 hours while we are at the closing (us paying them to sit around), plus we dont have to worry about the closing itself, plus it just paid for my Jamacia vacation next year, plus I can get the stain for our deck and fence and a spray gun, and another garage door opener... and a snowblower... et al.
What a good night it was last night. Thank you Nana and Grampa. Your kindness continues even after you have long since passed on.
