I just got new broadband servive. The isp provided zyxel model 623-41. It is configured as dhcp server. Has 1 ethernet connection and 1 usb, which means it is also a router. Beyond this I have a linksys befsr41 4 port dsl router. Problem is Only way I can make the linksys work is to disable dhcp server mode and manually set lan adress and turn the damn thing into a 3 port switch.Isp won,t give me code to reconfigure modem and if i set it back to default to get in i,m not sure i can set it back up. Kind of like Idiot flying airplane. The modem dhcp server pool only 30 adress,s and only renew lease once a month. that not much of a nat firewall. ANYWAY, isn,t router to router kosher?

Not sure what all you've tried, but did you setup the routers WAN port to "obtain IP address"? Plus, did you use a cross over or standard cat 5 cable to connect the Zyxel to your Linksys? I find it very hard to believe that you can't connect a router to it and let it obtain it's ip via dhcp for the WAN port, and not be able to assign a private pool of ip's. Let us know what all you've done/tried.

Yes, Router to Router will in fact work. I have a Zoom X4 DSL/Router and then goes to a D-Link 624 Router/Wireless.

There are many ways to get it to work as well as many ways to have it not work.
