I am currently using an Actiontec V.90 Callwaiting modem, It works just fine. I bought an Actiontec V.92/V.90 Call Waiting Modem, its just a newer version of the modem. I tried it in 2 PCI slots with about 5 different drivers. I've tried XP drivers, WIN98 drivers, NT drivers, and WIN2K drivers. I cannot get the thing to work right. The handshake is all messed up, with beeps and tones that are not normal lasting for 2-3 minutes, and then it only connects half of the time. The modem works fine in another computer with the XP drivers. Does anyone know anything that I can try to get this modem working in my computer? What PCI slot would be best for a modem? I don't want to get rid of the modem because I need a Call Waiting one and I need the old modem for another computer that Im building.

Thanks
justin

Their site sux as it shows your modem in the product page, but not in the page that has the owners manuals. Anyway, see if there is a way to disable the 'quick connect' feature. It's just a hunch.

I bet your ISP is uding Level3 servers. These have some handshaking problems with some v.92 modems.
