modem keep disconected.. Help~

hello there.
I got V.90 56K modem (external and USB)
The problem is I can't keep the connection for more than 10 minutes.
I don't know where to look for the problem..since I know not much about modem configuration.
I think it's not the phone line though.. since other computers can do just fine, so... the ISP may not be the problem either...
What should I do to troubleshoot this problem?
Any help greatly appreciated thanks 🙂
I'm running windows98..
