Modem Blaster v.92...Please Help Me!!!

I just put together my first rig and everything has been working perfectly...until I decided to try out the modem. My problem is that when I try to connect the modem either dials right away and everything works fine or the computer freezes for about 5 seconds and then the dial up screen just sits there, if I cancel it, it won't let me bring it up again and if I close down windows it hangs at "saving your settings." I've tried updating the drivers and updating win xp, nothing has helped. Please help me it's like a 50/50 gamble each time I turn on my computer to see if the modem will work or not. Don't hesitate to ask any questions and help would be much appreciated.

P4S533 (SIS 645DX)
P4 1.8a at 2.4
Samsung 512 ram
MSI Geforce 4 TI4400
Sound Blaster Audigy
Modem Blaster V.92
Lite on16x DVD
Lite on 40x CDRW
..Oh and I'm running Windows XP Home Edition🙂
 
I've used those modems and Creative's driver is junk. I recommend you try using the generic driver that comes with Windows XP. That's how I got it to work. If that doesn't work I guess you could try switching the PCI slot.
