Modding your bed

I'm in the first stages of designing a sleeping chamber of sorts. I live right next to a major street, literally my window is 2 feet from it, and I am not in a situation to move right now so I am going to build a sound-proof box around my bed. It sounds psychotic, but I am used to living in a small town in Maine where noise and light pollution are non-existant.

So, does anyone have any ideas? Currently I am thinking of designing the box like a cooler where 1/4 of it will raise up whenever I want to get in/out. The box itself will be constructed of hemasote, which is apparently recommended for sound proofing uses. I am also looking into acoustic foam. I cannot, however, figure out how to cool it. It obviously requires a vent of sorts, maybe even two, but I can't think of a way to do that and maintain a sound-proof enclosure. I thought about building a metal sheet into one side and string copper piping along it ala a giant radiator, but then you have condensation to consider.

Any advice would be greatly appreciate because I am sure these issues have come up in case modding, albiet you aren't (probably) living in your cases.
 
Like case modding, you need to get rid of excess heat. Being in a box will be very hot. I can't even sleep on the couch because it's too hot.

awesome idea I say your best bet for ventilation would be lots of foam(filter and block noise and a quiet fan, you'd probably have a slight fan noise, but better than car's*looks out on the lake behind his house and the other two houses he shares a square mile with*
 
i modded my own bed by putting speakers all around it (5.1 sound) so i could enjoy music, movies, tv, and dvd's while laying in bed.

another problem with the radiation type theory is that you need to get fresh air in and bad air out... so some kind of venalation is necessary. however i dont know how you do it, and keep the box sound proof.
 
Already tried earplugs- too loud. I also live with very loud roomates and contend with a lot of light pollution so I thought this quasi-sensory depravation chamber idea would work well.
And a coffin would run out of air quickly...

Uh... cooling a waterbed isn't a problem. And sleeping on a cold surface (THAT cold, anyway) can give you hypothermia. That's why all waterbeds come with a heater.

It's a helluva lot easier to punch an intake and exhaust hole in a coffin than building an entire anechoic chamber on a small scale. I bet you could get a used one cheap!

You realize that one you build it... you won't want to leave. Think of it... a self contained, fully ventilated, cooled, capsule? Add small toilet, water fountain, television, and computer terminal, and you'll only have to leave occasionally for food.

 
How much would just putting in soundproof windows help? What about cost wise?

And FFMCobalt, the GF doesn't always work. I still hate noises when I'm sleeping, especially the vibrations of bass-heavy speakers. I won't get started on that...
 
Sound proofing my windows would help, but I also deal with a lot of 3am screams from my drugged out roomates. I really don't think building a large box would be that difficult or expensive, even with sound proofing foam on the inside. Granted, it will take some dollars to cool it and ventilate it properly. Are there any solutions for modded PCs that silence fan noise through some kind of foam lined chamber?
