Story:
My case
is getting a bit hotter than I would like, and I want to reduce the noise as well. I replaced the HSF on both of my Xeon's, and that is fine and dandy, except for the fact that I'm starving my fans with the case closed up.
If I open the left & right side, the temps go down. So I want to put in a 120mm fan over the video card / CPUs to put more air to them. After that, I will be able to replace the (8) 80mm fans and (2) 120mm fans with quieter versions.

I want to put a hole in the side panel of the case, but I don't know the specifics of what I need to do it. And I've went to all kinds of websites in this forum, but they don't say, use this dremmel, or this blade. So I need help, and I can't afford to mess this case up in any way.

I've already had the case modded by someone else who was excellent with a dremmel, so that I could add a second power supply to the machine. Second PSU is shown on my machine's page.

Sorry this is so long, but I could use some advice. And I hate to post something like this, with all of the "which one do I get" stuff. But I did my research, and have found it wanting. Thanks.

And even though the modders will really frown on this, is there someone where I can take my side panel to get the holes put in? I'll take it CompUSA or whatever. I am not doing this for looks, I just need it done for performance issues to be solved...

theres a sticky at the top of the forum that can you check out.

a cheap hole saw on the end of a drill would get you the hole anyway.
 
Assuming most of your heat comes from your processors, you might consider water cooling. Otherwise, air is the lifeblood of your cooling system and you've got to increase the flow.
 
Take off the front panel and cover it with steel or aluminum mesh. Then stick as many 120mm fans as you can fit in the case. You can just get a fan controller and lower the rpms. Just take off the front panel and put mesh there.(pronounced very easy) you'll get tons of airflow. a few green cold cathodes with the steel mesh front would look sweet!:shocked:
 
I guess I'll just get a driemel with some cutting tips or something, and see what I can come up with.

. Man, what a pr()n collection you must have!!! 😉

. Need to cut those system pix down a bit - anything over 100k for web pix is too big. Under 50k is even better. They take forever to display via modem.

. Any local sheet metal shop should be able to cut some perfect holes for you.
