Modding the FX 5200

I was just wondering if you could do some sort of mod to the FX 5200 and turn it into the FX 5600? both of these cards use the N34 core.... any one know?

I don't think modding it is possible. Probably better off selling it for cheap to a family member's computer and getting yourself a better card.

they have completely different cores. The 5200 has the nv34, while the 5600 has the nv31. There is no way. Its like modding a radeon 8500 into a 9700, aint gonna happen.

the 5200 has less then half the transisters of the 5600, and has no compression engine what so ever.

My roommate and I modded his 5200's tiny ~20mm fan to a huge (relatively; it's as wide as the card) 90mm I pulled out of an old PSU...it was hilarious and of course did nothing for the o/c or anything. Point? No, you can't mod it for jack; it was born crap, it will die crap, and we're sorry you were fooled but it can never be anything but that. The best you can do is some extreme cooling mod for the sheer hilarity of it (something you would never do on a card worth jack, for instance). On that note, I've got a stock Barton cooler around here I'm gonna go stick on his POS and see what it does
