Modding PSU Wires

Thread7

Junior Member
I created a custom small size case from plexi and barely have enough room for all the wires coming from the power supply. They are much too long. I'm sure I've seen mod projects where people have shortened the wires from their PSU but I can't find any after much searching. What do you recommend?

A. Taking out a good portion of the middle part of the wires and then splicing back together.
B. Opening the PSU and clipping right at the starting point.
C. Taking off all the connectors (Ie. hard drive connector, motherboard connector), clipping, then somehow reattaching the wires?

Thanks,

I would recomend doing either b or c unless you are going to sleeve it. If you are going to sleeve it then any of them is fine. if you do clip from center make sure you solder them back together not just twist and tape.

Okay Thanks.
I may cut from the center since I'm a little unsure about putting everything back together if I do it another way. At least I know how to solder but am not sure if I have the right tools to do it another way.
