I just bought a DFI nf4 ultra-d motherboard and it requires a 24pin psu.

Can I mod my current 20pin psu (antec 550w true power) to 24pins.

I am thinking of using the wires from the AUX connector (for the 3.3v and 5v (has anyone ever used this) with 12v from a standard molex connector to power the 4 extra pins?

Will this work? Should I just order a new psu (ugh!!).

Thanks!

IMO I would not mess around with the conversion. Do it right. Get a PSU with either a 24 or 20 + 4 connector and do it right. A lot of issues would be avoided or corrected if everyone would do this.

That extra connector... The EPS12V connector is for mobo's like the Asus A8N32 SLI... They "require" an 8-pin power connector for their CPU powering... However, the classic ATX12V 4-pin works just as great with 'em... Take the regular version... Very powerful, stable and silent PSU...

Actually the A8N32SLI does not have an 8 pin EPS connector. It has the regular 4 pin ATX connector.

The MSI X16 board on the other hand has the 8 pin connector.

You don't 'truly' need the extra 4.
Plug it in, with all the bottom ones filled, top 4 empty. It'll run.
(Provided you aren't running SLi, or something along those lines.)
