I modded my xbox using the mechassult savegame hack, and have the evolutionX dashboard up and running.

what do i do with it now?

is XBMC easily available? (i've heard its pretty good)... are apps like that pretty easy to install on the xbox?

i did the hdd swap hack... wow was that a pain in the arse but it worked

as for XBMC you can find it on irc/newsgroups

get xbcopy, u can rip and xbox game to ur HD, and play it, though ur default xbox HD is only like 8 GB and a game is around 2-3 GB sometimes 4

Software hacking HOWTO

There's a link there to download the MechInstaller images. It also explains how to set it up. I chopped a USB extension cable and an Xbox extension cable to create a cable that lets me plug a USB flash drive to the Xbox. I used a Lexar 256MB Jump Drive Secure.

Once you run that "Emergency Linux" gamesave (refer to the link above), you have full access to your Xbox's hard drive through FTP. Look at the tutorials in the Xbox-Scene forums on how to load specific hacks that'll let you boot the exploits without starting MechAssault first.

It's only illegal in binary form because it's built with the XDK. It's actually a valid open-source project.

get a big hd (like 160-250 gigs).

put some games and see your load times decrease.

media center - good for divx/all the other stuff.

mame/snes/genesis/other roms.

play old school games.
