i have a 3g eclipse gt. (v6 - now at 220hp)

i added the injen cai and a magnaflow straight-thru muffler. and i gotta say, it sounds awesome!!! it now has a deep rumble at about 1900rpm, reminiscent of a v8, and it's not ricey AT ALL. hehehe, me so happy!!!

btw, here's where i had it done - Road///Race Engineering

ratkil - change your exhaust, it'll sound like a v10. and free up your exhaust a lot.

It's a 429cu v8 running through 2.5 inch exhaust straight through, I don't think sound is going to change much. =D

Even with lots of mods, the G3 eclipses can't compete with modified GS-Ts and GS-Xs

Nice car tho ;)

yeah, you would be drooling right up the point where you see me go sailing off the road when the first turn comes, as you buzz right on around it without even a lean :)

Radeon - untrue. the gs-x and gs-t are only .1-.3s quicker than a STOCK v6. a turbo (doug's dyno, $3500) has just been developed for the v6, and it puts us in the low to mid 5s. the v6 has HUGE potential. just give it time. ;)

btw, i was at rre yesterday. they were modding a black gs-t. they put a 1g engine in it, and with some mods got it to ~400hp. it does the 1/4mile in under 10s. it's a sleeper too. good stuff.

a guy that works there (thai) got caught by a helicopter doing 160mph on the fwy. kinda funny, the police car couldn't keep up so they had to call in the chopper. :)

The Ford 429 was the big block that replaced the FE series of engines. The 429 was later slightly modified to make the 460. It was mainly found in cars.

Haha, v10's sound goofy. Nothing beats the sound of a big block when you open it up.

no doubt! I've heard my share of Viper V10's and they sound like ass compared to a big block chevy..

how about a big block running open headers. :Q that'll deafen you in a heartbeat.

Bigbootydaddy, the only one crapping in here is valhalla1, nobody else has said anything derogatory about Tuffguy's ride :)

Tuffguy, it's a 1972 Ford Torino orginally had a 351 Cleveland with 2 inch headers and 3 inch exhaust straight pipes, that was just a tad annoying :) now its a 429 running stock manifolds through 2.5 exhaust sounds much better, though hard to keep leaks downs.

Hmmm.. My license plate says 'IHADAV8'.

I drive a Buick Turbo V6.. :) Anr yes, it does rumble like a V8, until I get the hair dryer spinning, then it whistles. :)

2.25" stainless cat-back, into 2 Hooker Maxflows. I could do without the drone, but it's the price you pay. :p

Valhalla1 - you're entitled to your opinion of course. but trust me, it's not a loud muffler. you can only feel/hear it when you're close to the car. it's just a straight-thru that matches the factory piping, so all that you hear is the natural sound of the engine breathing.

bigbootydaddy - agreed. unfortunately, i couldn't find a new one. but the 3g is much nicer/comfier than the 2g.

ratkil - nice! :) i love the look of those cars. my friend used to have a buick gnx. sweetest car i've even been in.

Here is a question for you, is timing still controlled directly by a cam on these new cars with the 6's and 4's? Just wondering as you dont' see them with the "lopy" idle. You will have to excuse my ignorance, I have been out of the "loop" for many years here. :)
