Why are the mods anonymous here? On other boards I belong to if yer a mod it says so under yer name. Are the mods afriad of retaliation or something?

they are anonymous so that i dont have to deal with stupid questions and people all the time. also in my opinion i find the mods being anonymous works a lot better

Who mods the mods? Granted, if the mods were known they would catch flak every now and then, but at least we'd know who was banning us. What's to keep a mod from banning people for the heck of it?

I agree - it can be a pain in the ass for the person "listed" as a Mod - but to be able to have the "god" like power to ban and not be known isn't right either...

Mods are anonymous for their own protection. Say mod X banned user A and user A got all disgruntled and started harrassing Mod X, saying nasty things about them, sending them nasty emails, etc. .

Cna you imagine some of the little wankers here mail bombing and causing the mods all sort of grief if they knew who they were? I can.
