congratulations, seattle-ites! i feel very privileged to live near 2 fry's. :D any idea on what the theme will be? one of the ones i live near (austin, tx) has a pretty cool music theme. the other one (arlington, tx) is one of the few fry's stores without a theme, unless its theme is "big ugly-ass warehouse" :|

No theme on our soon-to-be-open (hopefully) Fry's.

I called Fry's Corporate again today (408-487-4500). The woman who answered said they don't have a telephone listed yet. I mentioned that I heard they might have a soft opening next week, and she said, "Yeah, I heard that, too. You might want to keep an eye out." So, I will clear my schedule for 9:50 am next Tuesday, Aug. 26th.

I drove by the Renton (Seattle area ) Fry's, and they had a couple tables out front, looking for recruits. They had interviewers and managers walking around. I spoke to the guys there and confirmed that they have a "soft opening" on Tuesday, Aug. 26th, and a Grand Opening (with special prices) on Friday, August 29th. So, when should we meet in the parking lot? I vote that we meet on Tuesday at 9:50 am, and take a look at the store. Then we can come back and pick up the bargains on Friday. Your thoughts?

Slight problem for us who work during the day... :frown:
I do look forward to wandering around the store in search of deals though.

I wonder if the "DEALS" will just be on Friday .... or on Tuesday too ? Hmmmmm

I got inside today .... man they have alot of stuff to sell .... I mean overstocked for the rush.

They have pallets of stuff to restock the shelves in the isles....

It looks like they have just about everything you could ask for too... I've never been to a Fry's B4.

They weren't selling anything yet, but I did find out that the "DEALS" will be on Friday, the Official Grand Opening, and not on Tuesday.

I was told that Tuesday was a "soft opening" to get the word of mouth going .... free advertising.

So check it out on Tuesday, go back on Friday for the big ticket stuff.

I can't make it on Friday, I'll be fishing in eastern Washington. :(

Oh well ....

It's just nice to have one here :)

I swung by at 9:50 am, as I said I would do. They were setting up a big picnic/BarBQ feed in the parking lot for the employees. I spoke to a manager walking by, and he said they will probably open about 5 pm for the "soft opening" today (Tue. Aug. 25). I am gonna guess that today they'll have the same stuff as some other Fry's (here is the current ad in the San Jose Mercury), but keep in mind their disclaimer that local newspaper specials only apply to that area. All the local specials roll out on Friday, as you know.

The address is 800 Garden Ave. N. in Renton MapQuest map. From I-405 ("the 405", for you folks driving in from Kal-i-forn-aye-eh), take NE Park Ave, exit 5. Head west (downhill), and take the first light after the freeway, Garden Ave N, to the right (south). One long block, and you'll see Fry's on the left across from the huge white Cirque de Soleil tents.

it was not open to the public, me and a friend manage to sneak in there. it was only for friends and family of employees. they wouldn't even sell you anything. they said at 5pm is when they can make sales, store looks great, didn't really see any mind boggling sales though.

Well, just emailed my manager about getting friday off. Vacation calendar is full, but maybe i'll get lucky.

yeah, just tried to go to the "soft" opening at 5pm, there was around 30 other people who probably heared this news and was waiting at the front door. Waited till 6:30 and it was still closed, asked the people who worked there when they were gonna let us in, they said soon. I got bored and left, so yeah, friday's the day.

atleast, you guys dont have to deal with stuff labelled with those infamous "returned sticker" from Frys yet ;)

hehe....would be really funny to see some people lined up in the return line early friday morning (to return stuff bought from other Fry's stores ;))

The Seattle Fry's Electronics add is in the Sports section of the Sunday, August 24th issue of the Seattle Times. Page D7.
Not sure why they would put an add for a store like Fry's in the Sports section,maybe that's why it passed through my radar :).

Maybe next time they'll try the Business/Technology sections.

Does anyone have an opening date for the new Fry's in Wesbter, Texas ( south of Houston). It's location will be at Kobayashi and Magnolia.
