You sure you're not talking about Incredible Universe?
What an incredibly bad store that one was!! Remember how everyone had to sign a bunch of paperwork just to get inside the store, only to find mediocre selection and deals at best.

I went a couple weeks after grand opening, didn't have to fill anything out. But yeah, I don't remember any spectacular deals. Then again, I was younger, not yet taught in the wise ways of HD's. I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place.

fry's in renton is not open yet. Still lots of work trucks in the parking lot. Looks like painters ane electricians. I would say they are at least a week or two away still.

Does anyone have an opening date for the new Fry's in Wesbter, Texas ( south of Houston). It's location will be at Kobayashi and Magnolia.

Man I must be getting old. I use to live in Portland and up here at the same time.. and i got the frys down there mixed up with Incredible Universe 😛

Gosh, I hope Fry's in Renton doesn't suk like Incredible Universe in Auburn. Stupidest retail concept I ever saw. 😛

Well, I called Fry's Corporate (408-487-4500) and the gal there said that, although they're still being told that it would open soon, they had also told them that they would get the new store phone numbers when they were a month away from opening. And they haven't gotten them yet. So......

Well, let's keep asking them every week or so..... (Dated Wednesday, July 16th)

I had to fill out all that paperwork too. I still have my barcode tag that you needed used to buy things. That was a good idea...NOT! You don't remember any deals because there weren't any!

sure there were deals at Incredible Universe
they had great close out deals on their "going out of business" sale 😀

I remember picking up couple of playstation games for $5 each back then

RE: Incredible Universe Going Of Biz Sale:

Hey - I remember getting a Diamond Stealth 3D with the amazing Virge chipset - whew! What a performer (not) to put in my Acer that I had just updated to a PR166 - whew! What a barn-burner that was! (not). AND they had Atari Lynxs there - as an old school Atari-ite, I sure do miss the old Atari - think I'll go unbury one of my STs from the garage and go write a GW Basic version of DonkeyKong.....

I was driving by on the 405 yesterday (Friday 18 July) and saw it, so I checked it out.
The guys inside said they were two or three months from opening. Based on the state of the store, I would guess at least a month.

I knew this was happening. I can't link to the exact message, but it's 3 from the end here.

It's people like YOU that are preventing them from opening!

Anyone heard any news? Would be nice to swing by Fry's this weekend if it was going to be open....Anyone driven by lately? Any stock on shelves? Any huge Semi Trucks out back unloading all those CPU & ECS Combo's???

Just curious....

I called Fry's Corporate again today (408-487-4500) and they still have no projected opening date. I left a voicemail when they sent me to the Community Relations guy's extension, asking how I could stay posted on the progress.

I suggest we form a massive picket line and lie down in front of incoming construction vehicles and demand our right to squander our money on luxury goods!

. . . er, something 😕

Last night I was talking to several guys that are working in the new Fry's they understand the current plan is

SOFT opening Tuesday Aug 26

Grand Opening Weekend of Sept. 5th, 6th, 7th

again this is NOT official just the scuttlebutt

The trash bins are overflowing with all the empty display cartons so things are moving along.

Arizona Joe: can you keep us posted with the scuttlebutt? And yes, CodeyF, I think we need to do a AT Solidarity March. Tentatively, let's show up on Soft Opener Tuesday, August 26th, at 9:50 am. Meet at the first light pole, right in front of the main doors. Then, at 10 o'clock, we can link arms and bust through the technocrat guard and liberate our comrade products inside!

LOL

If you guys are so anxious, just go to the Beaverton Fry's in Oregon... Only like what... a 4 hour drive?

Sucks to be you guys... I have like 5 Fry's near me.
