I'll check it out, hope it works, thanks.

I hope it works too, when I was first, seriously, trying out the various linux distros I messed up my partition table more then I care to remember.

PARTITION MAGIC BABY
😀

While Spyro's page was nice, it was work.
Partition Magic fixed it in 5mins with a couple of mouse clicks.

Good for you... finally somene got his money worth from PM...

Heh, yeah, I don't know if I would gamble with stability by trying any other fancy partition moving things or anything. But from nothing to working recovery... WOOHOOO 😀

Good deal. I was going to recommend GetDataBack. This came in handy last year when I thought I deleted like 80gb of mp3s and pictures of family.

You know what is even better? a good backup system... so next time you upgrade, think about it, what upgrade is better than a good backup? i know most of you will just overlook that part and come here to whine anyway... but don't say i didn't try...

That almost seemed kind of rude dude. You might want to choose your words more carefully...
And, in my case, this was the backup.

A moderator might get me for this, but it'll be worth it. (maybe they won't... I'll try to keep it clean and professional.)

That was very heartless of you. That was outright mean. You threw salt into that poor soul's wounds. You're not talking to a computer; you're talking to a person. Furthermore, Omen's not just trying to fix his computer, he's trying to recover hours or days' worth of work (sometimes years in some cases). That time is never recoverable, and time is the stuff of which life is made.

I feel for those who lost data. I lost a heck of a lot of data over the past few years. This thread is no place to recommend backup strategies in that manner. Never say "Well, you could have done this...". If a driver unintentionally hits a young bicyclist, one will never say what the driver could have done. Rather, one learns the lesson in tears and continues on the roller coaster of life.

Have some sense of couth.

Oh fvcking please, i wrote that after you had completed your mission successfully... and now i am going to tell you that only a complete idiot does not have a current backup anyway, is that RUDE enough for you?

You are a moron, get your ass out of this forum and if you want the nice booty handling next time, visit mikes nice gay forum...

What "moron" put you in charge? Take your own advice as you have worn out your welcome here.

THAT has to be the most stupid post i have ever read... i think you come from south park or is a south park writher trying to make up an excuse for writing here...

I hope you are joking... *LOL* i really do.. I refuse to think anyone could make that sh!t up and really mean it... LOL... but you gave me a good laugh...

Thank god for a good moderator. Good mods, good members included and bad members out are critical for a good forum community. Have a nice day. 🙂

I'm sorry if I sound like the Brady Bunch father. (He really was gay, and that's a proven fact.) However, I don't think my girlfriend would agree with your sexual reference in this technical forum. (Well, really my ex girlfriend, but that's completely unrelated and none of your business.) The only hard thing of Mike's that I want is his lemonade.

No problem, no worries. Your words were great. In fact, I am impressed at how reserved they were.
Don't let people like that make you worry about offering help here.
SnapIT has been banned from the forums by the moderator. People like that are not tolerated here.
Please continue to help others and give good educated input as you did in this thread.

SnapIT really went outta control in this thread. Thats really sad that a thread about data recovery could go this crazy. 🙁 After reading about its glory, though, I've decided that I'll always try to keep a copy of partition magic by my side 🙂

It's great to see the Moderators have promptly taken the trash to the curb, so anyway, to get back to the topic of the thread...

I'm glad to hear that you got your data back, and I'll be sure to get a copy of PM to keep on hand if I ever slip up and do something similar (we're all fallible, unlike what our ex-troll would like to lead you to believe - that he never makes mistakes, that is).

Like Kevin said, we learn from experience; I think the lesson here is that one should keep a copy of PM readily available, and that one should, if one can afford it, have a backup drive that can be easily physically removed from the system when it is not being used. That should limit the damage caused by PEBCAK mistakes that we all make from time to time, right? 🙂

<-- has lost data even with his half decent backup strategy; loosing years of hard work is quite painful, and it is definitely not the time to call someone a ****ing moron (or some similar insult).

/me slaps Spyro with a stinky, slimey trout

😉

Edit: if you've never used IRC, you'll probably not understand the trout reference. Don't worry, it's just a joke. 🙂
