I'm more of a Modern Apizza guy myself. Pepe's in New Haven turned into a tourist trap.

From the title, I thought that we were getting the Moderators pizza. I'm down for that, as long as I can choose the Moderator who gets my pizza!

My daughter agrees with you FWIW ... I like Modern too but I give Pepe's a SLIGHT edge on the crust flavor.

Added to my list! Anything in particular there that is a must-try?

At Zuppardi's my favorite topping is Meatball ... sausage is really good too but they use big chunks rather than slices. They also have my all-time favorite tomato/pizza sauce.

I used to live walking -distance from them and got food there all the time .... and now I'm craving it too!

When COVID is over, you, me, and @ultimatebob should all get together for a slice. Most of the ATOT NE group have moved away over the years. Our Hartford get-togethers are down to like four people now lol. Well, pre-COVID, that is!

Also @Quasmo are you still alive?

Overall I gotta wonder how they are making much profit.

This seems like an issue in California Bay Area given the sky high rents. There have been 3 or 4 similar style restaurants (Pieology and Pizza Studio) that have gone under in my area. Granted one failed in a location that has seen about 4 restaurants rotate through in the span of 6 years.

I like these type of places especially for my picky kids that don't like anything but pepperoni, I can get what I want and let them have their boring pizza.

Buffalo chicken pizza there is my go to. Haven't had Pieous or Blaze. Pie-5 was terrible in comparison so not surprised it went out of business.

There's a Blaze Pizza in New Haven right near me that I've never tried although I did eat at the one in Storrs on the UCONN campus a few years ago.

It wasn't disgusting or anything (think Chipotle version of a pizza) but frankly unless you live in an "egg noodles and ketchup" part of the country when it comes to Italian food I can't see ever getting it again without a super-cheapo coupon deal.

I’ve had MOD pizza a few times in Seattle. It’s basically a pizza cracker, but some of their toppings are pretty good.

I like Pieology better. We had Mod pizza when we lived in Katy and it was just okay.

I haven't had a chance to visit Mod Pizza yet, but I have been to Pieology. Overall, it is a good experience, but I am easily swayed by places with reward points. :p The only thing that I'll say is that I still strongly prefer Domino's crust, and I'm a bit bewildered as to why more places don't have an option to season the crust. At Pieology, I usually ask that they put the garlic butter (or olive oil) around the outside and sprinkle Parmesan on that. (When I make pizza at home, I put a mixture of olive oil, garlic salt, and Parmesan around the outside.)
