I ahve a hdtv that is 480i/480p/1080i. anyone have exprience playing at those settings? how is it for gaming? how is it for normal deskto pduties like wordprocessing and web surfing? My video card is a 9800pro with xt bios cats 5.10 dvi to component adapter to my 53" rear projection.

I play on 720P 32 inch Westinghouse and I love it. Actual res is 1360x768 and the with a 16:9 aspect ratio. I also us it for HDTV with just a touch of the remote from PC/TV mode. I have found most new games support widescreen, some require a few hacks. You can get most widescreen info you need here. Hope this helps you decide.

Yeah it is bound to look great but you do need a pretty beefy system to push that resolution in many newer games.
