You couldn't even get $1000 for it on Eb@y....most of the ones that go over $400 have high bidders with negitive feedback, or high bidders using a free email address as their seller ID (read: people with negative feedback who created new accounts). If you're looking for one for christmas, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one affordably.
Sheesh... why the heck would anyone plunk down that kinda cash for a neat little machine that plays games that are only marginally better than games on other consoles? Can't you just wait a month and a half and buy it for $199 ??
I managed to get my hands on a PS2 last week. And I considered selling it for insane amounts of money. Then I had a sudden attack of the conscious; I sold it to a friend of mine for his kid unopened for the exact same price I paid for it.
