If you're looking to replay diablo 2 again before diablo 3 gets released, now you can play it at a higher resolution.

I see what appears as dead pixels in the screenshots. do you see this in-game or is this just an artifact on the screenshots?

I was hoping for new high-res backgrounds but they just increased the viewing area.

That would require an assload of work for which nobody gets paid.
And even though we all love Blizzard, it should be acknowledged they dont like anybody messing with their intellectual property.

Ive heard that is very unstable...

Also, when I played d2, I didnt really care about what it "looked" like. What it has by default is fine for me. I dont even run it in 3d....I run it in 2d for speed...

I tried that mod, it doesn't work on closed Battle.net, and I haven't played D2 off-line in about four years, if not more. I won't bother unless Blizzard themselves do it, and they've done it once (originally D2 classic was only 640x480, and they doubled it to 800x600 when Lord of Destruction was released, but after that and since almost a decade and more than seven patches during that period they've never done it again).

640x480 doubled does not equal 800x600

and yes... this is old. there was a thread back maybe during the summer?

My mistake. I should have said "increased to" instead, hehe, good observation.

I actually did restart D2 a week or two ago after a 2 year hiatus, but I'm gladly sacrificing the option of higher resolution to play on battle.net. I can't imagine playing single player again after having used bnet for so long.

I'll stick to vanilla...especially if modding requires sacrificing bnet.

Hey, it's still pretty cool. I'm pretty sure the white pixels are snow flakes.

Why don't you just use Sven's Glide wrapper for Diablo 2? It gets you all the resolutions, as well as other enhancements. The biggy is that it is allowed on Battle.net since you just select Glide instead of DirectX/OpenGL in the video config.
