Mod: Connection Machine front panel

So I was watching Jurassic Park a couple weeks ago, and so there are the scenes with Samuel L Jackson operating the computers. And in the background is a Connection Machine CM-5, with that front panel of the red LED blinkenlights.

Now, I'm getting a lian-li pc-v1100b I I think that kind of led panel would look great on the front cover.

Anyone heard of a project where someone did something like that?
 
I haven't heard of it, but it shouldn't be too hard to do with the pre-assembled LED arrays that are available now.

It depends mostly on what you want the led to do. If you just want them to light up and stay on it will be very easy to just build one. If you want them to flash seemingly randomly then it will be yet more dificult. What is it you want them to actually do?
