Hello Group,

Since I haven't built a current system in 1 1/2 years I fell behind in whats what in computerology :)

Anyway, I started learning whats what this week since I am going to upgrade so anyway
it seems that the more expensive mobos now offer WIFI on them...so could someone enlighten me as to what this means.

I mean since the dsl/cable box already has WIFI whay would they put it in a mobo?? or am I not understanding that function correctly.

Btw, it looks like I will be going the INTEL platform instead of my normal AMD platform.

Thanks, Jake

The included wifi would allow you to connect to a wireless network instead of having to run a cable to one of the onboard ethernet ports.

Thanks John, thats what I thought. I guess I just don't get that technology being used on a mobo when all one has to do is get a dsl/cable box that has it.

well, to connect your computer wirelessly to the dsl/cable box that supplies internet via wifi, your computer will need a receiver - if its not built in, then you have to buy an extra card, which is why its more expensive.
